Isabelle Dalton was City's top finisher for the first time this season as she and Deandra Jara led the Knights to a third place result at the PCAC championship. Both Dalton and Jara finished in the top-15 to earn All-PCAC honors.
As a team, the Knights also qualified for the Southern California regional championship for the sixth consecutive season. That race will be held at El Dorado East Regional Park in Long Beach on November 3.
Dalton and Jara were running together for most of Friday's race at the familiar Morley Field course, but Dalton pulled ahead to finish the 5k in 21:05, which was good for 11th place overall.
Jara, however, was not too far behind as she came in six seconds later (21:11) to cross the finish line in 12th place.
Dalton and Jara have now each made the All-PCAC team in both their freshman and sophmore seasons at City.
Glennis Lopez was the third Knights to cross the finish line for the second consecutive race. She missed out on All-PCAC by only two spots as she came in 17th with a time of 24:09.
Kai Bethea (19th; 25:03), Pauline Monganga (23rd; 25:55), Nihal Samaha (27th; 26:32), and Isabella Chuiz (30th; 27:20) rounded out the seven scorers for City.
It was the fourth straight season that the Knights have placed third or better at the PCAC championship.
They now have two weeks to prepare for the SoCal regional championship.
