The Knights had more good performances from freshman Nayeli Villarreal, who was the team's top finisher with a time of 23:38.9, freshman Yesenia Huerta (24:04), and freshman Calysta Lopez (25:12.3). Nayeli led the team for the second straight meet and Yesenia ran a strong race, running a personal best by over a minute.
Head Coach Marco Anzures was most impressed by the team's ability to execute all aspects of a great race day. "They communicated well during the warmup, got themselves ready to race, and weren't distracted by other teams," said Anzures.
All of City's racers ran aggressively and smart. Big kudos go out to freshmen Lesley Guitierrez and Giselle Perez for running their first races ever!
The Knights will look forward to their next event, the Coach Downey XC Classic, which is a home meet on Friday, Sept 27th at Morley Field. This meet will also be a preview of the PCAC championship.
