KNIGHTS DEFEAT RIO HONDO, 3-1, IN PLAY-IN ROUND
The No. 18-seeded Knights (15-10) pulled off an upset on Saturday as they got past No. 15 Rio Hondo, 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-18) in the play-in round of the CCCAA Southern California regionals.

Kiara Pena had a great performance in the victory over Rio Hondo (15-12) as she led the Knights with 20 kills and 20 digs. Alina Fletes was strong as usual on defense as she tallied 40 digs for the third time this season.
Kareemah Hopkins assisted on 45 kills and also recorded 18 digs. Mariah Wonders had her second-best effort of the season on offense by getting 14 kills to go along with six block assists.
The Knights will be on the road again on Tuesday, Nov. 26 to play the No. 1 seeded Irvine Valley Lasers, who are an undefeated 23-0 this season. The winner of Tuesday's match will advance to play either No. 8 Long Beach City or No. 9 Orange Coast on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Saturday's win over Rio Hondo was City's first playoff victory since the Knights defeated L.A. Pierce in the second round to advance to the elite eight of the state championship in 2017.
