Knights Get 5th Straight Sweep
San Diego City's women's tennis team, which has won seven of its first nine matches, is off to its best start since the 2017 season when they went 7-3 in the first 10 matches. The Knights defeated Rio Hondo, 9-0, on Thursday to make it five consecutive wins, all of which were 9-0 sweeps.

This current win streak, which includes a 2-0 start to PCAC season, is their longest since 2018 when they won six in a row.
The Knights earned wins over Southwestern (non-conference), Grossmont (PCAC), Fullerton, and Imperial Valley (PCAC) before taking down Rio Hondo.
The No. 1 doubles team of Bethlehem Gezahegne and Angie Palmerin earned an 8-0 win over Rio Hondo's No. 1 duo of Lana Young/Abigail Madrigal.
Jessica Hoffpauir and Chiara Burgin got and 8-1 victory over Makayla Glover and Jennifer Diaz in No. 2 doubles action, while City's Anya Villanueva and Jimena Cortes got past Sophia Chavez and Kaitlyn Dominguez, 8-2.
The Knights then went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets.
Palmerin defeated Young 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles. Hoffpauir beat Madrigal 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.
Villanueva (No. 3) earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Chavez, while Burgin defeated Diaz 6-1, 6-2 in No. 4 singles.
Thi Bich Ngoc Dang cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Rio Hondo's Glover in the No. 5 spot.
In No. 6 singles, Olivia Gallagher blanked Mayumi Lemus 6-0, 6-0.
The Knights will play Southwestern once again on Tuesday at the Jaguars' home courts, but this time it will count as a PCAC match.
City will be home on Thursday at 2 p.m. vs. Mt. San Jacinto. There will be a Women's History Month celebration during that match, which will be played at the same time as a softball game, with free admission, free food, and a replica softball jersey giveaway to the first 200 in attendance.
