Garcia, Calafato Each Score Twice in Comeback Win

Imperial Valley struck first at the 38:50 mark when Lindsay Ortega converted a penalty kick after a yellow card was issued to San Diego City's Bianca Calafato. The goal gave Imperial Valley its first lead of the day.
San Diego City responded just before halftime when Desiree Garcia found the back of the net in the 45th minute to level the score at 1-1.
Imperial Valley reclaimed the lead early in the second half with a goal from Charlie Pinon in the 50th minute, making it 2-1, but San Diego City's resilience shined through.
Bianca Calafato equalized in the 61st minute with an assist from Abril Mejia Ruiz, and soon after, Desiree Garcia scored her second goal in the 68th minute to put San Diego City ahead 3-2.
Garcia now has five goals in three games, which is currently the sixth most in the state.
San Diego City continued to push forward, and in the 70th minute, Calafato netted her second goal of the game, again assisted by Mejia Ruiz, to give the Knights a 4-2 advantage that they would hold on to.
The Knights will be home again on Tuesday at 1 p.m. against Cuyamaca.
