Bianca Calafato had not found the back of the net this season until Friday when she terrorized Grossmont's defense by scoring all four goals in the Knights' 4-1 win to improve to 2-3 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.
Calafato, the freshman forward from Del Norte High, got started early by knocking in a cross from Hannah Hawk in the eighth minute to give City a lead they would not relinquish. The game remainined 1-0 for the rest of the first half, but Calafato struck again in the 57th minute when she slipped past multiple defenders for a goal the put the Knights up, 2-0.
She made it a hat trick in the 70th when Jenica Stell hit her with a long ball down the middle. Calafato found herself alone against Grossmont's keeper, who she easily beat for the goal.
Stell connected with Calafato on a similar long ball three minutes later and Calafato shot the ball towards the far left post to beat an approaching defender and the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the game.
Grossmont got one back in the 74th minute, but the Knights' lead was too large as they went on to earn their second win.
City will be on the road for the next three games starting on Tuesday at Palomar at 3 p.m. The Knights will play at Miramar on Oct. 6 and then at Imperial Valley on Oct. 13.
