With only 10 players, the Knights traveled to Miramar on Tuesday and earned a 5-0 win, their first of the season with goals coming from Sachiko Kure, Tanairy Suarez, and Monica King.
The Knights have been hit with the injury bug this season, but they have been improving each game. After going scoreless for the first five games of the year, they have scored in each of the last three games, including Tuesday's victory at Miramar.
In that game, sophomore Sachiko Kure scored her first goal of the year at the eight-minute mark to give City the early lead. Tanairy Suarez put in her first of the year in the 25th minute and then added a second goal in the 43rd to give the Knights a 3-0 halftime lead.
Monica King got in on the scoring with her first of the year in the 76th minute to put the Knights ahead 4-0.
To put a cap on the Knights' scoring outburst, Kure scored her second of the day in the 85th.
Playing in her first game of the season, goalkeeper Daniela Alfaro earned the shutout win with seven saves on the day.
City's next game will be at home on October 11 when they host Imperial Valley at 3 p.m.
