Freshman Elissa St. Julian led the Knights offensively with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five steals to help City improve to 17-11 overall and 7-5 in the PCAC, which was good for fourth place.
Sophomore Cerina Nguyen recorded her 18th double-double of the year in her final PCAC home game of her career. She had 10 points and 13 rebounds to go with four steals and three blocks.
A'sontee Jackson scored four points and added eight rebounds and five steals in her final home game. Cusha Landry, also a sophomore, finished with seven points and five boards.
D'Ajanae Lewis had 12 points and four steals.
San Diego City scored the first six points of Friday's game and then held Imperial Valley to just 2-of-14 shooting (14.3%) in the first quarter to help them grab 16-4 lead.
Imperial Valley shot much better in the second period, but so did the Knights as they added five more points to their lead, which grew to 33-16 at halftime.
City was ahead, 42-22, after an 11-2 run midway through the third quarter, but Imperial Valley responded with 11-0 spurt of their own to cut the Knights' lead down to 11 in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.
Nguyen hit back-to-back jumpers, which was followed by a big St. Julian 3-pointer that took the wind out of IVC's sails and pushed San Diego City's back up to 19 with 5:06 left in the game.
It was the fourth win in the last five games to help this year's team set itself apart as the winningest in San Diego City College women's basketball history. The previous record for most wins in a season was 14 in 2016-17.
The Knights will now wait for Sunday's CCCAA playoff seeding announcement to see if they will play at least one more game in the playoffs.
