Knights Win First Home Match, 15-1
San Diego City women's badminton team played its first home match of the season on Wednesday and earned a 15-1 victory over El Camino to improve to 2-1. Both teams were shorthanded with only four players a piece, but City had a strong showing and got its second consecutive win over El Camino.

City's No. 1 Cecilia Naranjo won both of her singles matches in quick fashion. She defeated No. 1 Anh Ly, 21-3 and 21-4, and then took down No. 2 Marlene Ruiz, 21-3 and 21-5.
The Knights' No. 2 player Angelina Benn got past Ruiz, 21-8 and 21-9, and then defeated No. 1 Ly 21-9 and 21-9.
City's No. 3 Jiaxin Liang defeated El Camino's No. 3 Hayley Doyle, 21-16 and 23-21. Liang then won her match against No. 4 Alison Sibley, 21-9 and 21-16.
Francesca Calamari won her No. 4 singles match over Sibley, 21-15 and 21-18, but lost to No. 3 Doyle, 4-21 and 17-21.
In doubles action City's No. 1 duo of Naranjo/Benn defeated El Camino's No. 1 team of Ly/Ruiz, 21-5 and 21-7. They then cruised to a 21-4 and 21-7 victory over ECC's No. 2 team of Boyle/Sibley.
Liang/Calamari won both their doubles matches in three games. They got past Ly/Ruiz, 23-25, 21-17, and 21-19, and then defeated Boyle/Sibley, 21-15, 18-21, and 21-8.
