KNIGHTS FALL TO DE ANZA, 12-9, IN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The Knights came into the California Community College Athletic Association championship riding a 19-match win streak and looking to get a second straight state title, but De Anza College stood in the way as the Dons defeated SDCC, 12-9, to win their first CCCAA state championship.
The Knights came into the California Community College Athletic Association championship riding a 19-match win streak and looking to get a second straight state title, but De Anza College stood in the way as the Dons defeated SDCC, 12-9, to win their first CCCAA state championship.
It was the Knights' fifth trip to title match, but the first time in history that they came away without the championship trophy. The Knights took home the hardware in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2012, all under Head Coach Son Nguyen.

The Knights will be back at it on Friday as the Individual and Doubles championship tournament begins. Darby Duprat, Thao Nguyen, and Sophia Tran have the top three seeds for individuals, respectively. Lena Van is the No. 7 seed going into the tournament.
The Knights also have three of the top five seeds for the doubles tournament. Duprat/Nguyen, Sophia Tran/Van, and Cassandra Ka/Kareen Escobedo are seeded No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5, respectively.
The finals for both tournament will take place on Saturday at Pasadena City Colllege's Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
