Phipps Throws Complete Game Shutout in Win Over Grossmont
The Knights earned their first shutout win of the season, 3-0 over Grossmont, on Wednesday with pitcher Hadley Phipps throwing her first complete game. It was the Knights' first PCAC win of the season as they avenged a 1-0 loss to Grossmont in their previous meeting on March 8.

City's offense produced two runs in the bottom of the first to give Phipps all the run support she needed. With Cali De La Rosa and Ari Mallari in scoring position, Shayann Beddow's ground ball led two both De La Rosa and Mallari coming home on an error by Grossmont's pitcher.
City added a third run in the sixth inning when Beddow reached on an error, which then allowed Mallari to score from second base.
Although Grossmont did get six hits to City's three, Phipps, who struck out four, and her defense kept shutting down every Grossmont's threat as they hung on for the win.
The Knights improved to 8-17 overall and 1-6 in conference.
