Sophomore Kelling Leads Knights at XC Kickoff

Just as he did in four of City's five meets last year, sophomore David Kelling was the first Knight to finish Friday's XC Kickoff at Harry Griffen Park with a 5k time of 18:24 (30th). 

In his first race as a Knight, Josh Pampo crossed the finish line in 19:53 (36th).

Markell Fuqua (20:51; 41st), Brandon Hernandez (21:21; 42nd), and Miguel Valenzuela (21:24; 43rd) were the next three Knights to complete the course, while Miguel Angel Gonzalez (25:30; 51st) rounded out the top-6 for City. 

As a team, the Knights finished sixth with a score of 145.

They will run next at the SoCal Preview meet at Chaffey College on September 13. It will be the first 4-mile course of the season.
