The men's cross country team was shorthanded at its first meet of the season, the San Diego Cross Country Kickoff at Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa, with only two runners, but they showed promise. Freshman Christian Juarez ran the 3-mile course in 18:52, which was good for 15th place overall. Pedro Mariscal beat out some more experienced runners and crossed the finish line in 35th place with a time of 22:27.

Although they did not have enough runners to qualify for a team result at this first meet, the Knights are looking forward to having a full squad at the Cerritos Invitational on September 16. That meet will take place at Liberty Park with an 11 a.m. start time.
