Knights Secure a Share of IEAC Title!
San Diego City clinched at least a share of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship after getting a 6-1 victory over College of the Desert on Friday to stay undefeated (8-0) in conference play. The Knights can secure the outright title with one win in their final two IEAC matches.

In Friday's match against Desert, the Knights swept the two doubles matches with Abel Martinez and Julian Mackinnon, City's No. 1 duo, getting an 8-2 win over Travis Pimentel and Chandra Ishikawa.
Bernardo Martinez and Yared Gezahegne earned an 8-1 victory in their No. 2 doubles match over Nathaniel Jimenez and Matthew Rubio.
In singles action, Abel Martinez earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Desert's Ishikawa in the No. 2 spot. Bernardo Martinez, City's No. 3, blanked Jimenez 6-0, 6-0, while No. 4 Gezahegne defeated Jonathan Gonzalez 6-1, 6-1.
David Witter only dropped one game in his 6-1, 6-0 win over Desert's Rubio in No. 5 doubles.
Mackinnon played a tough No. 1 match against Desert's Pimentel as they went to a third set, but Pimentel came out on top with a 7-5, 2-6.
City's first chance to clinch the outright title will be at home on Tuesday against Mt. San Jacinto at 2 p.m. The final conference match will be played at Mt. San Antonio College on Thursday, March 27.
The last Knights title came in 2017 when they went 12-0 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. That championship was the first for San Diego City since 1977.
In total San Diego City has now won 11 conference championships.
