The first half saw Palomar take an early lead with goals from Lucas Meirelles in the 14th minute and 43rd minute. Palomar dominated the possession and created several scoring opportunities, while the Knights struggled to find their rhythm and weren't able to get on the board.
San Diego City came out with renewed vigor in the second half and quickly closed the deficit. Isaac Velazquez scored in the 55th minute, assisted by Johnson Nguyen, to make it 2-1. Velazquez then equalized in the 63rd minute with a penalty kick, leveling the score at 2-2.
Palomar responded with a goal from Matt Esposito in the 69th minute to regain the lead at 3-2. However, San Diego City continued to push forward and showed resilience. Velazquez completed his second hat-trick of the season in the 72nd minute, assisted by Brett Woodworth, to make it 3-3.
San Diego City's determination paid off in the 82nd minute when Velazquez fired in his fourth goal of the match, assisted by Gael Olea, to give City the lead for good.
Knights' goalkeeper Sebastian Guillen saved 11 shots bringing his total to 111, which is the most saves in the state.
City improved to 5-10-1 overall and 3-4 in the PCAC.
They will play at Imperial Valley on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and will be back home on Friday vs. Cuyamaca at 3 p.m.
