Tatis With HR, 4 RBI in Win Over IVC

Daniel Tatis had his best game as a Knight on Thursday as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to help San Diego City get a 12-2 home win over Imperial Valley and snap an 11-game losing skid. Starting pitcher Dustyn Burns struck out seven batters in seven innings to improve his record to 3-3 on the season. 

The Knights, who had not scored in the first inning since March 17, put up three runs in Thursday's game to grab an early lead that they would not relinquish. 

After two singles by Orlando Arellano and Tony Felice, Isaiah Alba hit an RBI single to bring in City's first run. Two batters later, Tatis drove in two more runs on a single through the left side.

Brody McAuliffe, who made his first appearance at shortstop, and Arellano each scored on wild pitches in the second and fifth innings, respectively, to give the Knights a 5-0 lead.

Imperial Valley scored its first run in the 6th inning, but then the Knights exploded for seven runs in the 7th to take a 12-1 lead.

That inning was highlighted by Tatis' 2-run homer, his first of the year, and McAuliffe's two-run double.

Arellano, who is batting .367 on the season, finished 3-for-5 with three runs, while McAuliffe went 3-for-4.

The Knights will conclude the season series at Imperial Valley on Saturday at 1 p.m.
