The Knights (22-18) are playoff bound for the first time in 14 years as the No. 22 seed in the 3C2A Southern California regionals. They are set to play a best-of-three series against No. 3 Golden West (28-12) with game one scheduled for Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m.
The second game of the series will be played on Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. and game three, if necessary, will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two. All three games will be held at Golden West College.
The Knights earned their way into the playoff picture by winning nine of their final 13 games, including a doubleheader sweep at Victor Valley on Saturday that put them at 22 total wins, their most since 2010 when they got to 27.
That 2010 season was also the last time the Knights qualified for the postseason when they lost their first round series, 2-1, to Cuesta. San Diego City went 27-9 that year and won their last Pacific Coast Conference championship with a 19-6 record.
The Knights finished 12-13 in the 2024 PCAC season, which earned them a third-place tie with Mesa. Their playoff opponent, Golden West, won the Orange Empire Conference championship with a 15-6 record.
Friday's game one will be the second meeting of the season with Golden West winning the first matchup, 12-3, on January 30.
The winner of the series will move on to the super regionals on May 9-11. That round has a double elimination format against two other first-round winners in their bracket.
Admission for Friday and Saturday's games at Golden West College is $12 for the general public and $8 for students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children less than 12 years of age. Tickets can only be purchased electronically here. No cash is accepted at Hoover Field.
