Six City Runners in Top 10 as Knights Take First at Tri-Meet
Sofya Chernyak and Yesenia Huerta were the first two runners to cross the finish line to help the Knights claim first place at Friday's Tri-Meet against Southwestern and Imperial Valley. The Knights scored a team-record 19 points to beat second place Southwestern (36 points) and win this meet for the second straight time.

San Diego City had an average time of 14:36, which is a team-best for the 2-mile course held at Balboa Park. Chernyak led the pack the whole way and clocked in at 13:28. Huerta was not far off Chernyak's pace as she ended the race only four seconds (13:32) behind her to earn her first second place finish of the season. Huerta knocked off nearly a minute off her previous best time on this course.
Isabelle Dalton crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 14:31 and was followed by Natalie Garcia who made a big jump and completed the course in sixth place with a time of 14:46.
Mariana Lara (9th; 17:29) and Ingrid Gonzalez (10th: 18:53) beat out the rest of the pack to give the Knights six top-10 runners on the day.
The Knights will now turn their attention to preparing for the PCAC championship, which will be held at NTC Park (Liberty Station) on Friday, October 22 with a 10 a.m. start time.
