Sofya Chernyak Named PCAC Athlete of the Week
The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference has named women's cross country runner Sofya Chernyak as one of its Athlete's of the Week after she led the Knights to a third place finish at the Coach Downey Classic last Friday.
The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference has named women's cross country runner Sofya Chernyak as one of its Athlete's of the Week after she led the Knights to a third place finish at the Coach Downey Classic last Friday.
Chernyak was the first Knight to cross the finish line with a 5k time of 21:15, which was good for 12th place individually. She was fifth overall among community college runners.
It was the second consecutive race that Chernyak has been the Knights' fastest runner. She won the opening meet of the season on September 3rd, which was a 3-team, 2.2-mile race at Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa.
Chernyak and the Knights will be back at it on Friday, October 1 at the PCAC preview meet to be held at Liberty Station with a 10 a.m. start time.
