City Places 3rd at Downey Classic With 4 Knights in Top 20
In their second meet of the season, the San Diego City's women's cross country team earned third place at their own Coach Downey Classic, held at Morley Field, with freshman Sofya Chernyak as the Knights' fastest runner with a time of 21:15 and a 12th place finish.

Three others, including sophomore Yesenia Huerta (13th; 21:44), freshman Isabelle Dalton (16th; 23:02), and sophomore Calysta Lopez (18th; 23:44) were also among the top 20 in a tough field that included UNLV, who won the 5k race, and Cerritos who placed second.
San Diego Christian College and Southwestern came in fourth and fifth, respectively, at the 33rd annual Downey Classic.
Freshman Natalie Garcia ran the course in 25:07 and placed 22nd overall for the Knights, while freshmen Mariana Lara (25th; 27:28) and Elani Patzan (28th; 28:40) finished strong.
The Knights will be back at it next week on Friday, Oct. 1 at the PCAC preview meet, which will be held at Liberty Station with a 10 a.m. start time.
