City Starts PCAC With Sweep at IVC

San Diego City's women's volleyball team got back in the win column on Friday with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) sweep at Imperial Valley to start the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference season. Ashley Davies recorded her second double-double of this young season with 13 kills and 12 digs, while Alexis Mines added a season-high 16 kills. 

The Knights improved to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in the PCAC. They edged out wins in the first two sets before closing Imperial Valley out with an 8-point win in the third set. 

Rylan Manalang (23 assists) and Jillian Geenen (19 assists) split time at the setter position and combined for 42 of the team's 43 assists, which is a season-high for the Knights. 

Charisma Saymo tied Davies for most digs on the night with 12. Veronica Allen recorded seven kills against IVC and Sarah Cashman added five kills.

The Knights will be on the road again on Wednesday, September 21 for a 5 p.m. match at Miramar. City will play its first PCAC home match on Friday, September 23.
