Angel Lopez, the Director of Tennis at San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club, donated cases of new Babolat balls and rackets to the San Diego City College men's and women's tennis programs.
Lopez talked to both teams about how he started playing tennis at the age of 17 and went on to play for City College, UCSD, and the University of Arizona. "
"By today's standards, starting at 17 is considered by most to be too late, so I hope that our players are inspired by his story and believe that they can do whatever they set their minds to," said San Diego City College women's tennis Head Coach Jami Jones.
"I met Angel when I was about 10 years old and I consider him to be my most influential coach, as well as my friend and mentor," said Jones. "He is an amazing motivator and tireless in his work ethic. I can still see how much he loves the game."
