Knights Earn 2nd Straight Shutout, 4-0, Over IVC
Coming off a 5-0 win at Miramar a week ago, the Knights were back on the home field on Tuesday and earned another shutout, 4-0, over Imperial Valley to give City its first winning streak of the season. Tanairy Suarez, Monica King, Ariana DiMartino, and Riana Kitchen each had a goal in Tuesday's win as the Knights improved to 2-5 in the PCAC and 2-7 overall.

Suarez put the Knights ahead early with her team-leading third goal of the season coming in the 14th minute. Suarez, making a run down the middle of the field, secured a pass from King and was able to beat Imperial Valley's keeper for the game's first goal.
Ten minutes later, it was King who got to a loose ball inside the box and then sent it into the back of the net to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
Just before halftime at the 40-minute mark, Sachiko Kure took a shot from 15 yards out that was saved by IVC's goalkeeper Brielyn Tran, but DiMartino was positioned perfectly and knocked in the rebound to score her second goal of the year.
In the 59th minute, Kitchen put an exclamation point on the game after dribbling into the box and putting the ball into the right corner of the frame for her second goal of the year.
City goalkeepers Daniela Alfaro and Nayali Zavala combined to earn the shutout with a total of three saves.
The game was stopped in the 70th minute due to lightning strikes in the area.
City will try to extend its win streak when they travel to San Bernardino Valley on Friday, October 14 at 2 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
The Knights will be back home against PCAC-rival Mesa on October 18 at 1 p.m.
