Lloyd Leads With 16 Points in 2nd Straight Win Over Cuyamaca
Despite shooting only 25.4% from the field and scoring just six points in the first quarter, the Knights overcame their offensive struggles with tough defense as they forced Cuyamaca into 29 turnovers in a 48-40 home win to improve to 7-11 overall and 3-1 in the PCAC.

Kaniya Lloyed led City with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals, while Vean Gorgees chipped in nine points, four rebounds, and three steals. Cerina Nguyen was strong defensively, blocking six shots to go with seven points and eight rebounds.
Point guard Caitlyn McCoy added seven points and dished out six assists.
The Knights started out very slowly, missing their first 13 shots and falling behind 7-0, but Lloyd finally got City's first bucket on a layup with 2:52 left in the first quarter.
City was down, 11-6, after the opening quarter, but they turned things around in the second, outscoring Cuyamaca 17-7 to take a 23-18 halftime lead with Sarah Henry scoring all five of her points in the quarter.
McCoy and Gorgees knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers early in the third quarter to give the Knights a 29-21 lead, but they went cold once again. City missed its next seven shots, which allowed Cuyamaca to put together a 15-2 run to regain a 36-31 lead.
The Knights responded with a 12-1 run that put them ahead, 48-37, for good with 1:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. Lloyd scored eight points during that comeback on three layups and two free throws.
Cuyamaca outrebounded City, 57-43, which led to a 9-4 lead on second chance points, but the Knights took advantage of Cuyamaca's 29 turnovers by converting those extra possessions in to a 26 points to help them earn their second straight win over the Coyotes this week.
The Knights will be home again on Friday against Mesa with the tip scheduled for 5 p.m. It is the second meeting of the season with Mesa edging out the Knights in the first game, 53-51, in overtime on January 24.
