City Overcomes 13-Point Deficit To Beat West L.A., 67-56
San Diego City overcame a bad start on Thursday, falling behind by 13 points in the first quarter, but they won the final three quarters to defeat West Los Angeles 67-56 and snap a 4-game losing streak. Cerina Nguyen led the Knights with 14 points, 16 rebounds, six blocks, and two steals as the Knights improved to 4-8.

The Knights missed their first 10 shots and West L.A. took advantage by scoring the first 13 points of the game. Gianna Spatafore finally put in the first bucket for the Knights five minutes into the game, but they continued to struggle offensively the rest of the opening quarter, shooting 13.6% and trailing 17-6 after 10 minutes.
City turned it around in the second quarter by using a 14-2 run to get within a point near the end of the half. West L.A ended up with a 5-point halftime lead, but the Knights went into the locker room feeling much better after winning the quarter, 18-12.
After falling behind 33-24 early in the third quarter, the Knights fought back again with a 12-2 spurt to take their first lead, 36-35, on a Nguyen jumper. That run ended up being 21-5 over the last 7:41 of the quarter as the Knights went into the fourth quarter holding a 45-38 advantage. Vean Gorgees scored eight of her 14 points in the third.
The Knights took that momentum into the final period and went ahead by as many as 16 points as they held on for their fourth win of the season.
Kaniya Lloyd and Sarah Henry provided a big boost off the bench with Lloyd scoring 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Henry added 10 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
San Diego City will play their next three games at home beginning with a matchup against Diablo Valley on Friday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. The Knights will then face Southwestern the next day at 1 p.m.
City will then open the PCAC season on Jan. 5 against MiraCosta at 5 p.m.
