Four Knights Set PRs at Bautista XC Invite
City's men's cross country team was back on the course on Friday at the Manny Bautista XC Invite and had four runners set new personal records, including Emmanuel Zavala, Coby Montes, Brandon Hernandez, and Cortez Taylor.
City's men's cross country team was back on the course on Friday at the Manny Bautista XC Invite and had four runners set new personal records, including Emmanuel Zavala, Coby Montes, Brandon Hernandez, and Cortez Taylor.
David Kelling was the top runner for the Knights for the fourth straight meet as he finished the 4-mile course at Liberty Station in 23:56. Sean Monney was the second fastest for City for the fourth consecutive time as he crossed the finish line in 25:05 on Friday.
Zavala made City's top-3 by cutting 33 seconds off his previous best to finish the Bautista Invite in 28:03. Montes completed the course in 29:02, which was eight seconds faster than at last week's Downey Classic.
Hernandez ran the four miles in 29:05, which bested last week's time by one second. Taylor made a big improvement in one week as he shaved off 43 seconds to finish Friday's race in 29:59.
The Knights have two weeks off before the PCAC championship which will be held at Morley Field on October 20.
