City Claims Third Place at Downey XC Classic
The Knights had a full team for the first time this season and had a great outing at the Coach Downey XC Classic as they claimed third place with David Kelling leading the way with an 11th place finish. It was City's best run at the Downey Classic since 2017 when they won first place.

Kelling, who has led the Knights in all three races so far, clocked in with a 4-mile time of 23:55 at the Morley Field course.
Sean Monney, who has been City's second fastest runner at all three races this season, finished the Downey Classic course in 24:50, which was good for 20th overall.
Emmanuel Zavala was the next Knight to cross the finish line with a time of 28:39, which was 33rd overall. Right behind him was Brandon Hernandez who ran his first race of the season. He came in 34th place with a personal record time of 28:39.
Coby Montes improved on his 4-mile time at the SoCal Preview Meet two weeks ago and finished the Downey Classic in 29:27 (35th), which was 17 seconds faster.
In his first race of the season, Cortez Peartree Taylor ran a personal best 30:42, which was good for 41st overall.
The Knights will be competing once again next Friday, Oct. 6 at the Mesa College Invitaional, which will be held at NTC Park in Liberty Station beginning at 11 a.m.
