Martinez Scores 4 Goals in 6-3 Win Over Victor Valley
Sophomore Brandon Martinez netted four goals on Friday to help the Knights earn their first win of the season, 6-3, over Victor Valley. Freshmen Jordan Diaz and Fadi Henry added the other goals for City as they improved to 1-7 overall.

Martinez got started early by scoring his first goal of the day in the third minute off a pass from Diaz. City's quick lead did not last long, however, as Victor Valley's Sebastian Nolasco tied it up two minutes later.
The Knights grabbed the lead right back on Martinez' second goal of the game in the 13th minute, assisted by Roberto Perez, but Victor Valley equalized once again with Nolasco's second goal in the 14th minute.
The flurry of goals continued less than a minute later when Martinez was fouled inside the 18-yard box and was awarded a penalty kick, which he converted by beating Victor Valley's keeper with a low shot towards the left post.
In the 38th minute, Nolasco put in his third goal to tie the game at 3-3.
City's Martinez struck again at the beginning of the second half when Melvin Alvarado set him up with an easy tap-in to give him his fourth goal and the Knights their fourth lead of the game in the 47th minute.
Alvarado earned another assist in the 53rd minute when he passed to Jordan Diaz for City's fifth goal of the game. Then in the the 78th, Henry put an exclamation point on the game with goal to put the Knights ahead, 6-3.
After this 4-goal outburst by Martinez, he now leads the Knights with six goals on the season, which is tied for 18th most in the state.
San Diego City will be on the road for the next two games at Southwestern on Tuesday, October 5 and at Mesa on October 8. The Knights will be back home on Tuesday, October 12 vs. MiraCosta at 3 p.m.
