Bio

Coach José Martínez is in his 1st season as an assistant with the Knights. Prior to being part of Coach Charlen's staff at SDCC, Martínez worked as a graduate assistant coach at the University of San Diego.

Prior to being a Graduate Assistant, Martínez was part of the men's basketball team as a student-athlete at the University of San Diego. Coach Martínez had the opportunity to represent his home country, Puerto Rico, as a member of their U15, U17, and Sub 21 National Teams.

In 2012, Puerto Rico competed in El Salvador where they won a Gold Medal. In 2019, Martínez made the decision of joining his alma mater's basketball staff.

Coach José earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology and his Master's degree in Leadership Studies from University of San Diego in 2022.
