San Diego City clinched a share of the PCAC championship after a wire-to-wire 125-95 blowout road win at Palomar on Wednesday night in which KJay Bradley set a new team scoring record of 41 points on 12-of-14 shooting, including 8-for-8 from deep.
Bradley also added 10 assists, five rebounds, and five steals in a career night to help the Knights win their seventh straight to improve to 23-4 overall and 14-1 in the PCAC.
Shortly after the win, the Knights' locker room errupted into a loud celebration after getting word that MiraCosta (19-8, 13-2 PCAC) had lost by a point to Miramar, thereby securing at least a tie for the conference title, their second in the last three seasons and their 9th since head coach Mitch Charlens took the helm in 2004.
The No. 7-ranked Knights will get a chance to win the outright championship on Friday when they host second-place MiraCosta at 5 p.m. in the final game of the PCAC season.
Bradley, who surpassed Terrence Boyd's previous San Diego City record of 40 points in a 100-88 win at Mesa on Dec. 10, 2010, was not the only one who had a hot hand against Palomar.
Al Green made 9-of-14 shots on his way to 19 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Kevin Moore played all but one minute and tied his season-high of 17 points on 60% shooting. Keavie Love made six of his eight attempts for 15 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Dexter Stratton hit 7-of-10 from the field for 14 points and brought down a team-high eight rebounds, while Alex Crawford shot 50% for 12 points.
The Knights had their best shooting night of the season, making 65.7% of their field goal attempts, including 12-of-20 (60%) on 3-pointers, to help them score the most points (125) in recorded team history. The previous record of 123 was set in an 86-point win over Cuyamaca on Jan. 12, 2018.
San Diego City hit six of its first seven shots on Wednesday night and jumped out to a 15-4 lead. The Knights were up, 42-30, with 6:15 left in the first half, but closed those final minutes with a 23-11 run to grab a 24-point halftime lead.
Palomar got within 17 with 4:30 remaining in the game, but the Knights finished with a 21-8 surge to win their seventh in a row, which ties their longest streak of the season.
Friday's PCAC finale vs. MiraCosta will be live-streamed on the Knights' YouTube channel and will be the first of a doubleheader with San Diego City's women's team hosting Imperial Valley at 7 p.m.
There will be a Black History Month celebration beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with free food, free admission to both games, and a free Knights T-shirt for the first 100 in attendance.
