Former Knight Kai Huntsberry Wins NIT Title With North Texas
Kai Huntsberry, who played both his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Knights from 2018-2020 and then transferred to the University of North Texas, is now a champion after helping the Mean Green win its first-ever National Inivitation Tournament title.
Kai Huntsberry, who played both his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Knights from 2018-2020 and then transferred to the University of North Texas, is now a champion after helping the Mean Green win its first-ever National Inivitation Tournament title.
Huntsberry, now a senior, scored a game-high 21 points to go with six rebounds and two assists as North Texas defeated the Univeristy of Alabama at Birmingham, 68-61, in the championship game. He shot 7-of-18 with two 3-pointers in 38 minutes of action.
Before joining North Texas, Huntsberry helped San Diego City reach the postseason in both 2019 and 2020. He was second on the Knights in scoring (13.2 ppg) during his sophomore season (2019-20) when they went 25-6 and made it to the sweet sixteen.
