Knights Win 2-of-3 at Allan Hancock Tourney

The Knights were back in action this past weekend after nearly two weeks without a game and they were able to win two-of-three games at the Allan Hancock Home Motors Tournament. They started the weekend with a 96-63 win over Santa Barbara, then got past San Jose, 85-75, before losing to Allan Hancock, 60-50, on Sunday afternoon. 

Five players scored in double figures in the win over Santa Barbara, including Anthony Howell who scored 13 points to go with 12 rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Al Green led City with 14 points, Kailen Rains added 13 points, Kevin Bradley Jr. put in 11 points, and Lorenzo Wright scored 10 points off the bench. 

City had a 14-point halftime lead, which then ballooned to a 61-40 advantage seven minutes into the second half. The Knights were hot all night as they made 67.3% of their shots, including 8-for-12 from the 3-point line, as they cruised to their third win in a row.

The hot shooting did not carry over to Saturday's game against San Jose as the Knights only made 41.4% of their field goal attemps, but kept the game close until they were able to pull away in the final 10 minutes. City was holding on to a 53-52 lead with 10:46 remaining in the second half when a Lorenzo Wright layup started a 7-0 run to go ahead by eight, their largest lead up to that point. 

Wright scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half to help the Knights create some separation from San Jose. The Jaguars got back within six with 8:06 left, but the Knights responded with a 10-2 run to go up 72-58 and take control of the game. Kailen Rains scored six of his 10 points during that run. 

Kevin Bradley, Jr. led all scorers with 24 points, including 13-of-16 from the free throw line. He also had five rebounds and five assists. 

The Knights struggled offensively on the third day of the tournament as they shot only 30.3% against Allan Hancock. San Diego City fell behind by as many as 15 points in the second half, tried to rally back when they used a 7-2 spurt to get within eight with 10:34 remaining, but the Knights couldn't close the gap any further and lost by a 10-point margin. 

Anjay Cortez and Green each had 10 points and five rebounds in the loss. 

Next up for the Knights will be the Grossmont tournament which begins on Friday, Dec. 2. City will play L.A. Trade Teck at 2 p.m. in the first round.
