Six Knights Moving On to the Next Level

The Knights have had a lot of success on the court during Head Coach Mitch Charlens' tenure, but his players have also triumphed in the classroom. Each year, Charlens' teams have had multiple players move on to 4-year universities and 2023 was no exception with six Knights transferring.

Former Knight Kai Huntsberry Wins NIT Title With North Texas

Kai Huntsberry, who played both his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Knights from 2018-2020 and then transferred to the University of North Texas, is now a champion after helping the Mean Green win its first-ever National Inivitation Tournament title.

Knights Advance to Sweet Sixteen Behind Stifling Defense!

The No. 8 Knights have advanced to the sweet sixteen for the third consecutive season after getting past No. 24 Copper Mountain, 66-56, in a second round playoff with Lorenzo Wright leading the way offensively with 18 points off the bench. The No. 8 seed Knights will travel to play at No. 1 Fullerton on Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in a Southern California regional final with the winner heading to the state championship quarterfinals.

No. 8 City to Play No. 24 Copper Mountain in Saturday's 2nd Round Playoff

After Wednesday night's first round games, the Knights now know their opponent for this weekend's second round CCCAA regional playoff and it is a familiar one. The No. 8-seeded Knights (25-3) will play No. 24 Copper Mountain (17-12), who knocked off No. 9 Cerritos, for the third time this season on Saturday at 7 p.m. at City's Harry West Gym.

Knights Earn No. 8 Seed, Will Host Second Round Playoff on Saturday, Feb. 25

The San Diego City men's basketball team (23-5) has earned the No. 8 seed and is set to host a second round California Community College Athletic Association regional playoff on Saturday, February 25 at 7 p.m. against the winner of No. 9 Cerritos (19-9) and No. 24 Copper Mountain (16-12).

Freshman Al Green Shines With 33 Points in Win Over Palomar

Playing in front of the largest home crowd of the season on sophomore night, it was freshman Al Green who carried the Knights offensively with a career-high 33 points on 10-of-13 shooting in a 91-86 home win over Palomar. It was the Knights' seventh win in the last eight games as improved to 22-5 overall and 13-2 in the PCAC.

Knights Get 19th Straight Win Over IVC

The Knights took care of business at home on Friday as they routed Imperial Valley, 119-52, to extend their win streak to six. Seven players scored in double figures, including Kailen Rains who tallied 19 points to go with five assists and three steals, to help the Knights win their 19th straight over IVC.

City Dominates With a 41-Point Win Over Mesa

The Knights (19-4, 7-1 PCAC) shot over 60% for the second straight game as they defeated Mesa, 112-71, at Harry West Gym in dominating fashion. Six Knights scored in double figures, including Al Green who led with 20 points, four rebounds, six assists, and five steals in City's sixth consecutive win over their PCAC rival.

Knights Beat Cuyamaca for 23rd Straight Time

Anjay Cortez went 8-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-5 from the free throw line, to lead the Knights with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a 94-69 home victory over Cuyamaca. It was the 23rd consecutive win over the Coyotes as the Knights improved to 18-4 overall and 9-1 in the PCAC.

Al Green Earns PCAC Athlete of the Week Honors

Freshman guard Al Green scored at least 21 points in all three games last week to help the No. 8 Knights go 2-1, including a win over No. 13 Miramar, and as a result has been named Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.

Al Green Scores 26 Points in Home Win Over MiraCosta

The Knights got back on track with a 69-64 home win over MiraCosta on Friday night after suffering their first PCAC loss in nearly three years, a streak of 27 games, at Palomar on Wednesday. Al Green poured in a season-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks to help the Knights improve to 16-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

No. 8 Knights Stay Undefeated in PCAC With Win Over No. 14 Miramar

Both No. 8 San Diego City and No. 14 Miramar both came into Monday's MLK matchup at Harry West Gym undefeated in the PCAC, but it was the Knights who prevailed, 82-60, with Lorenzo Wright and Al Green leading the team offensively with 22 and 21 points, respectively, as the Knights improved to 15-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Anthony Howell Named PCAC Athlete of the Week

Anthony Howell, the lone returning sophomore, has been named Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week ending on January 8. Howell tallied 21 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals in two conference wins to help the 7th-ranked Knights improve to 13-3 overall and 4-0 in the PCAC.

Knights Erase 11-Point Deficit to Beat Southwestern, 84-77

The 7th-ranked Knights fell behind by as many as 11 points in the second half, but they rallied back to win their fifth straight, 84-77, over Southwestern to improve to 13-3 overall and 4-0 in the PCAC. Kailen Rains led all scorers with 19 points and also grabbed five rebounds to help City win its 25th consecutive conference game.

Al Green Drops 23 Points in Home Opening Win

San Diego City was missing three starters in Friday's home opener against Copper Mountain, but Al Green stepped up with a season-high 23 points off the bench to help lead the Knights to a 58-53 victory. It was their third straight win and the second over Copper Mountain this season as the 11th-ranked Knights improved to 11-3.

Knights Start PCAC With Road Win at Grossmont

The defending PCAC champion Knights opened conference season at Grossmont on Wednesday and earned a 101-82 victory over the Griffins to extend their PCAC win streak to 24 games. Anjay Cortez led the way with a season-high 20 points, eight rebounds, and three assists as the 5th-ranked Knights improved to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in the PCAC.
