Lewis With 20 Reb in Blowout Win Over Southwestern

San Diego City won for the third time in the last four games by blowing out Southwestern, 82-56, at home on Friday night with point guard D'Ajanae Lewis grabbing a career-high 20 rebounds to go with nine points and four assists. 

Aamori Daniels recorded her 10th double-double of the season with a game-high 24 points and 15 rebounds to help the Knights improve to 10-10 overall and 3-3 in the PCAC.

The Knights, who never trailed, scored the first seven points of the game and ended the first quarter with a 20-8 lead after holding Southwestern to 4-of-16 (25%) shooting. 

San Diego City then closed the second quarter on a 13-4 run in the final 3:25 to take a 45-25 halftime lead. Alexa Munoz scored eight of her 11 points during that spurt, which included two 3-pointers.

The Knights' lead grew to as many as 32 late in the third quarter as they took full control of the game and went on to defeat the Jaguars for the third consecutive time.

City hit nine 3-pointers, which are the second-most this season. They made a season-best 11 in a 70-58 win at El Camino on December 13.

Dahlia Blake finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Deveney Gonzalez recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. 

Liliana Maldonado also scored 10 points off the bench with five rebounds and five assists. 

San Diego City will play Grossmont (15-4, 4-2 PCAC) for the first time this season at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights currently own a 7-game win streak over Grossmont that started on Feb. 19, 2020.
