KNIGHTS HANG ON FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WIN, 51-47, OVER GROSSMONT
The Knights blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, but recovered in the closing minutes and hung on to defeat Grossmont, 51-47, for their third win in a row and their fifth in the last seven games.

City improved to 6-14 overall, but are in first place in the PCAC South with a 3-0 record. The Knights have won six consecutive conference games going back to last season.
Sophomore point guard E'maniee Powell played every minute of the game and led the Knights with 16 points and three assists. Breeana Gafare scored nine points and brought down a season-high 15 rebounds.
The Knights took their biggest lead of the game, 40-30, on a 3 from Powell, her third of the night, with 6:36 remaining in the game. Grossmont outscored City, 12-2, over the next 3:20 to tie the game at 42-42.
Powell was fouled on City's next possession and made 1-of-2 free throws. After a Grossmont miss, Gafare knocked down a 25-foot 3 pointer to give the Knights a 46-42 cushion with 2:04 left.
Grossmont got back to within one point, but the Knights hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final 24 seconds to seal the victory.
The Knights' next game will be on the road at Southwestern on Friday at 5 p.m. Then, after a week off, they will play at Mesa on Friday, February 2 at 5 p.m. City's next home game will be on Wednesday, February 7 at 5 p.m. vs. Imperial Valley
