The San Diego City College women's basketball team clinched its second consecutive PCAC South championship by edging Grossmont, 46-44, in overtime on Friday. It was the Knights' seventh straight win as they improved to 7-0 in conference and 11-12 overall.

Breanna Gafare led City with 13 points, eight rebounds, six steals, and three assists. E'maniee Powell had 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The Knights struggled offensively in the first half and fell behind, 27-17, at halftime, but they outscored Grossmont, 13-4 in the third quarter to cut the Griffins' lead down to 31-30 after three.
City was down by four when Powell made a layup and a 3-pointer to give the Knights a 42-41 lead with 1:20 remaining in the game. Grossmont's Brittany Gafare tied the game on the next possession with a free throw.
Powell had a look a a game-winning 3, but missed and the game went to overtime where the Knights outscored the Griffins, 4-2, to win. A 3-pointer from City's Gafare and a free throw from Powell was all the Knights needed to secure the victory and sole possession of first place.
Going back to last season, the Knights have now won 11 straight conference games.
The Knights will wrap up the conference season with a home game against Southwestern on Wednesday at 5 p.m. They also have a non-conference home game against Mt. San Jacinto on Friday at 5 p.m.
