City Wins 6th Straight With a 9-0 Sweep of Mt. SAC
The Knights earned their sixth straight victory on Thursday by sweeping Mt. San Antonio, 9-0, and improving to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. It was City's fourth 9-0 sweep of the season and second in the last three matches.

The No. 3 doubles team of Brian Espinoza and Sebastian Castaneda got the Knights started with a quick 8-0 win over Jason Padilla and Adrian Arellano. Carlos Robles and Eduardo Castillo followed a few minutes later with another 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles over Connor Auyong and Jaden Aggers.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Nik Speshilov and Gianmaria Di Filipo had a tougher match against Mt. SAC's Lucas Van Zee and Nick Muranaka, but were able to pull out an 8-4 victory to sweep doubles, 3-0.
In singles play, all six Knights won their matches in straight sets, including Speshilov (No. 1) and Castillo (No. 4) who both won 6-0 and 6-0 over Van Zee and Padilla, respectively.
Espinoza defeated Muranaka, 6-0 and 6-1, at the No. 2 spot, while Robles finished off Augong with that same score at No. 3 in the singles ladder.
Di Filipo, in the No. 5 spot, earned a 6-4 and 6-1 win over Aggers, and Castaneda made it a clean sweep in singles with a 6-1 and 6-0 victory over Arellano.
The Knights are currently one match behind undefeated College of the Desert (8-0) in the IEAC standings, but City will get another shot at the Roadrunners on Tuesday, March 15 for a chance to get into a first place tie. That match will be played at Desert at 2 p.m.
