Workinger With 4 RBI in 6-1 Win Over Southwestern
The Knights are off to a 4-1 start in the PCAC after defeating Southwestern, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Morley Field. Starting pitcher Quinn Oliver (2-1) struck out eight and held the Jaguars scoreless in five innings as the Knights went on to earn their second straight victory and their seventh in the last eight games.

Starting pitcher Quinn Oliver (2-1) struck out eight and held the Jaguars scoreless in five innings as the Knights went on to earn their second straight victory and their seventh in the last eight games.
Ethan Workinger went 2-for-4 on the day and drove in four runs, two of which came in the first inning when his double to left center field allowed Hector Carreon and Alejandro Velasco to score and give the Knights an early 2-0 lead.
Later in the 1st with Chris Barkley on third base, Jorge Lucero hit a single through the right side to tack on City's third run of the inning.
Southwestern scored its first run in the top of the 6th on Rigo Duarte's RBI-double, but Knights' reliever Avery Laine came in and struck out the next two batter to end inning.
Then, in the bottom of the 6th, Carlos Oquita, Israel Tafolla, and Angel Morales loaded the bases on a hit-by-pitch and two singles, respectively. Velasco, who went 2-for-4, came up next and singled in a run.
Two batters later, Workinger's single to center field allowed Tafolla and Morales to score and increase City's lead to 6-1.
Laine struck out two more Southwestern batters as he retired the side in both the 7th and 8th innings. Dylan Vaughn hit a batter in the 9th, but got the next two Jaguars to hit into ground outs to end the game.
San Diego City is now 13-6 overall.
The same two teams will play at Southwestern on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Knights will be on the road at Grossmont on Thursday and will be back home at Morley Field on Saturday, March 14 vs. Grossmont at 1 p.m.
